Hazardous Waste Operator (HazWOper) Training is a training program designed specifically for professionals and employees working on sites containing hazardous waste and are required to be certified in compliance with OSHA’s HAZWOPER compliance standards.

If you are a professional working in the fields of clean-up and voluntary operations, emergency response operations, or storage, disposal and management of hazardous materials and uncontrolled hazardous waste sites, you may need to take the 40 hour HAZWOPER Training course.

Managers and Supervisors who work in the oversight of clean-up operations will be required to complete a HAZWOPER Supervisor Training course, which consists of 8 hours of training.

For those of you who are will be, or plan to, work on-site on an occasional basis, accouring to OSHA regulation, you will be required to complete a 24 hour HAZWOPER Training course

What Exactly Does HAZWOPER Training Mean?

In short, HAZWOPER is essentially just an acronym standing for:

HAZardous Waste OPerations and Emergency Response.

HAZWOPER training deals with 5 different kinds of operations dealing with hazardous waste in the United States (as definded by OSHA Standard 1910.120 “Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.”)

HAZWOPER Standards, in accordance with OSHA Training, involves the operation standards and safety requirements that employers, as well as employees, in the field of hazardous waste are expected to know, understand and practice prior to conducting assignments.

OSHA’s HAZWOPER training program was designed to target five specific groups of employees as well as employers. These grouples include any employee that will be or could potentially be exposed to any type of hazardous materials or waste while conducting work-related activity. These operations are defined by OSHA regulations and standards part 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v)

HAZWOPER 40 Hour Course

Our 40 Hr Course is designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Subjects include protection against and elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment per OSHA regulations – This course covers topics included in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.

Note: The 40 Hour On-line HAZWOPER training course meets the requirements set by the OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910.120 (e)(3) for the 40 hrs of off site instruction training requirements. An additional three days of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained experienced supervisor may be required.


HAZWOPER 24 Hour Course

This course covers issues pertaining to hazard waste recognition at work sites. OSHA, The Occupational and Health and Safety Administration has developed the HAZWOPER program to protect workers at hazardous sites & has devised extensive regulations to ensure their health and safety. This course helps workers identify types of hazards & suggests protective measures to reduce and eliminate hazards at the work place.


HAZWOPER 8 Hour Annual Refresher Course

OSHA’s 8 hour course meets the requirements in OHSA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 hrs of yearly refresher training for hazardous waste site workers. The course is designed for workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances and/or health hazards. It covers Hazwoper regulations, safety and health plans, hazardous chemicals, safety hazard,site control, medical surveillance, air monitoring , personal protective equipment, de-contamination and respiratory equipment.

Course Prerequisite: The 24 and 40 hr HAZWOPER courses must be completed before taking the 8 hr refresher course.


40 Hour HAZWOPER + The Clean Water Act

This package is part of our Oil Spill Clean Up series designed to provide personnel with the relevant training and certifications that may be needed to participate in the clean\up efforts. This package consists of the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course and The Clean Water Act course.
