Hazardous Waste Operator (HazWOper) Training is formulated for employees working in hazardous waste sites who need to be certified according to OSHA HAZWOPER regulations.

Hazwoper Training

If you are a worker involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal and management of hazardous materials and uncontrolled hazardous waste sites, take the 40 hour HAZWOPER Training course. If you are a Manager or a Supervisor involved in supervising clean up operations, you are required to take at least 8 Hours of HAZWOPER Supervisor Training. For occasional site workers, OSHA regulations require 24 hour HAZWOPER Training. All courses are 100% online and come with a printable certificate of completion.

Hazwoper Training HAZWOPER is an acronym for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response. It refers to five types of hazardous waste operations conducted in the United States under OSHA Standard 1910.120 “Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response.” The standard for HAZWOPER training contains the safety requirements employers must meet in order to conduct these operations. OSHA HAZWOPER training applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This includes any employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances including hazardous waste and who are engaged in one of the following operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v)

Students have 6 months to successfully complete the 40 hour, 24 hour and 8 hr hazwoper courses. These classes are self-paced, meaning you can take the entire course at once or log in and out as often as you want and complete the course at your leisure

HAZWOPER 40 Hour Course

Our 40 Hr Course is designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Subjects include protection against and elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment per OSHA regulations – This course covers topics included in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120.

Note: The  40 Hour On-line HAZWOPER training course meets the requirements set by the OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910.120 (e)(3) for the 40 hrs of off site instruction training requirements. An additional three days of actual field experience under the direct supervision of a trained experienced supervisor may be required.

HAZWOPER 24 Hour Course

This course covers issues pertaining to hazard waste recognition at work sites. OSHA, The Occupational and Health and Safety Administration has developed the HAZWOPER program to protect workers at hazardous sites & has devised extensive regulations to ensure their health and safety. This course helps workers identify  types of hazards & suggests protective measures to reduce and eliminate hazards at the work place.

HAZWOPER 8 Hour Annual Refresher Course

OSHA’s 8 hour course meets the requirements in OHSA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 hrs of yearly refresher training for hazardous waste site workers. The course is designed for workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances and/or health hazards. It covers Hazwoper regulations, safety and health plans, hazardous chemicals,  safety hazard,site control,  medical surveillance,  air monitoring , personal protective equipment, de-contamination and respiratory equipment.

Course Prerequisite: The 24 and 40 hr HAZWOPER courses must be completed before taking the 8 hr refresher course.

Package 1: 40 Hour HAZWOPER + OSHA 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Course

This package is part of our Oil Spill Clean Up series designed to provide personnel with the relevant training and certifications that may be needed to participate in the clean up efforts.  This package consists of the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course and the 10 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Course.

Package 2: 40 Hour HAZWOPER + OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Course

This package is part of our Oil Spill Clean Up series designed to provide personnel with the relevant training and certifications that may be needed to participate in the cleanup efforts.  This package consists of the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course and the 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Course.  Students will receive a certificate of completion for both the 40 Hour Hazwoper Course and the 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Course.  Students will also receive a Department of Labor card within 4-8 weeks for successful completion of the 10 Hour General Industry Outreach Course.

Package 3: 40 Hour HAZWOPER + The Clean Water Act

This package is part of our Oil Spill Clean Up series designed to provide personnel with the relevant training and certifications that may be needed to participate in the clean\up efforts.  This package consists of the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course and The Clean Water Act course.

Package 4: 40 Hour HAZWOPER + RCRA: What the Law Requires

This package is part of our Oil Spill Clean Up series designed to provide personnel with the relevant training and certifications that may be needed to participate in the cleanup efforts.  This package consists of the 40 Hour HAZWOPER Course and RCRA: What the Law Requires Course

Our Online HAZWOPER course offerings are approved by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102.

In obtaining this approval, our course content provider has demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard which is widely recognized as the Standard of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status, HAZWOPER Training Institute is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for the programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.
